The Robes Project would not exist without the valued help of around 200 volunteers. We are also very grateful to all those who donate food and bedding to enable the project to provide for our guests.
Here’s a summary of a typical evening.
6pm From around this time, volunteers arrive to set up the venues for the evening and night. This includes preparing dinner - we have some very good volunteer cooks - and setting up the beds and bedding to be used by guests.
7pm Guests arrive and are signed in, greeted by volunteer hosts, offered tea, coffee or soft drinks. Sometimes guests help to set things up in the shelter, which contributes to a feeling of community.
8pm Dinner is usually served at this time and volunteers and guests sit down to eat together.
10pm At around this time guests and the two overnight volunteers go to bed and the lights are turned off.
6.45am The breakfast volunteers arrive and guests wake up to eat and get ready to leave. After breakfast, the volunteers (often with the assistance of guests) clean up so that the venue can be used for its normal daytime purpose.
Do ‘get in touch" if you are interested in getting involved in the Robes Project or to find out more.
