Rotating Winter Night Shelter

Our winter night shelter is at the heart of what we do.

Sleeping on the streets is so tough during the summer, that it’s hard to fully imagine during the cold of the winter. Our winter night shelter operates during the cold winter months to support rough sleepers in and around Southwark and Lambeth.

We have continued to strive towards creating a family-like atmosphere within our shelters, to offer our guests a space of love and belonging. While our aim remains to ensure guests physical survival needs are being met, we are moving beyond to find tailored solutions in helping our guest find a pathway out of homelessness.

We are open 7 nights a week for 35 guests. Our shelters are warmly hosted by 30 or so churches in Southwark and Lambeth. Our devoted volunteers run the shelter with emergency on-call support available from the staff.

At Robes, I felt a sense of belonging and I never felt secluded. From the advice workers to every single volunteer I met, everyone has only been kind, helpful and polite. ”

I looked around as everyone was eating dinner and it felt so very right that our church was helping people in this way – where else might those men and women have been for the night?”
