Floating Support

Helping people find a home is just the beginning - we maintain contact to support our guests transition into managing their own accommodation

There are many reasons people experience homelessness. Unfortunately, many will experience repeat homelessness. To help prevent this happening to our guests, Robes have launched a Floating Support pilot program. The aim is to support people during the first 3 - 6 months of their transition out of the shelter, and into their own accommodation.

Empowering our guests to become independent, and sharing knowledge of where they can to turn in times of difficulty, is key in ensuring that once guests have moved into their own accommodation that this is sustainable and long lasting.

Our floating support offer includes:

  • Working alongside a guest for between 3 - 6 months once move on accommodation has been sourced, depending on their needs

  • Assisting with setting up utilities, direct debits etc

  • Supporting with budgeting advice

  • Researching and linking guest into appropriate healthcare, such as registration with a GP in their new area

  • Researching local support services, sharing these with guest, and encourage attendance for those that are appropriate

  • Signposting guest to services they can access in the local area if they should face any issues in the future

  • Ensure local drop in services / places that can assist with food poverty are known to guest

  • Encouraging / supporting guest around volunteering, education, employment and training
